Are you looking for a challenging opportunity that will give you real responsibilities immediately?
Are you tired of being stuck in an office being told you are making a difference when real change is taking place out in the real world?
Are you looking for a professional experience that is going to prepare you to assume a leadership role, not just earn an entry level position?
Are you looking to have an amazing summer full of excitement working with some of the best up and coming conservative leaders throughout the nation?
If you said yes to any one of these, the Hankins Leadership Intern Program is for you!
America was founded by those wise and courageous enough to set aside all personal gain and sacrifice their lives to spread Freedom and liberty throughout the land. Our founders trusted in the Providence of God as their guiding light to build a nation set in the principles of self-government and individual liberty, leading to the strongest and most prosperous nation ever known in the history of mankind.
Today, America is in need of leaders of this same spirit and resolve. Our nation and our Republican Party are clearly at a crossroads. We have both the opportunity and the responsibility to see to it that future generations come to know, love and enjoy the timeless values that have led to our freedom and prosperity. The time is now for future conservative leaders to emerge and unite to strengthen our nation and return government back to the people and out of the hands of elite, corrupt politicians.
Freedom must be preserved, our values must be secured and our way of life must be protected. Reagan Conservatism is the only answer and your efforts in this cause will see to it that our ideas lead to the solutions of tomorrow.
The Hankins Leadership Intern Program is committed to building future conservative leaders who will be effective advocates of conservative ideas in public affairs. Interns who participate in our program will walk away with the knowledge, skills and confidence to be bold and courageous leaders in the Conservative Movement.
After successfully taking part in our program, you will be ready to immediately provide leadership in whatever role you seek to serve in the future, whether that is running for local or state office, serving in a leadership role in a business or non-profit organization or simply leading grassroots efforts to pass conservative legislation.
This program will be the most rewarding professional experience of your life. You will make a difference in the lives of thousands of people and come away satisfied and self-assured knowing you will be able to continue to make a difference in the lives of all those you wish to serve in the future.
This is not a job, this is a cause. This experience is more than just launching your career, this is about fulfilling your calling.

Pro-Life Internships Available: These interns will participate in many of the same duties as other interns, yet their focus will mainly consist of contacting and organizing Pro-Life supporters throughout the district. These efforts will help build and strengthen Hoosiers for Life, Travis Hankins for Congress' Pro-Life grassroots organization. Hoosiers for Life will organize and mobilize Pro-Life supporters while working to achieve its main objective to reach out and educate the district on the Pro-Life issue.
This campaign is different than any other political endeavor or leadership experience.
Your time and effort will not be spent simply trying to win votes or win an election.
Travis Hankins is a Reagan Conservative and his campaign is committed to being the national model and launch pad to return the Republican Party back to the roots of Reagan. The way we do that is not by running a traditional campaign trying to win votes, but by running a grassroots campaign in hopes of converting people to our cause for Freedom. We will communicate and explain to the 9th District Reagan Conservatism and how the principles of limited government, lower taxes, strong national defense and traditional moral values are best for their life. We are calling people first to understand the cause and second to join the cause. This is where your leadership is vital.
Most politicians run away from conservatism. They are not conservative all the time. Travis Hankins and our campaign will not shy away from conservatism, but rather hold dearly to it as we make the case to voters that conservative solutions are best for America and are the solution to keeping the American Dream alive for future generations. And we need you to be a part of this movement.
To strengthen the Conservative Movement and utilize your leadership skills, our campaign is committed to taking our message door to door and face to face with Republican voters by canvassing the entire district.
Canvassing: All interns will participate and be responsible for helping canvass the district. Interns will get the opportunity to travel around the district to major cities, towns and counties. Interns will go door to door and talk face to face with only identified Republican voters about the campaign and about our conservative values.
This is one of the most important and exciting part of your experience on the Campaign. You will be able to meet the base of the Conservative Movement and the Republican Party and listen to the issues they are concerned about. This is the best opportunity to hone the leadership and communication skills our program will equip you with. This is where you will turn your education into leadership experience.
You will be making personal connections with the voters of the district and hear their stories. Those connections and their stories will inspire you and encourage you as you continue in the footsteps of Ronald Reagan who took our conservative message directly to the people.
Interns will travel throughout the district as a group and will safely canvass neighborhoods in groups of two or three people.
Networking
You will have an amazing summer living and working with some of the best and brightest young conservatives throughout the nation. You will create life-long friendships with people who share your values and most importantly share your calling. We hope that participants in our program will go on to serve together in various leadership positions, offices and organizations throughout the land, maybe even launching your own endeavors. Your experience and your relationships built during this program will propel you to such success.
In addition, you will also build relationships and friendships with many of the people throughout Southern Indiana who are either voters or supporters of our campaign. A big part of our summer campaign operations will be to attend county fairs, parades, festivals, and any other special event where people and fun converge. This is a perfect time to reach out to the people of Southern Indiana and get to know them and their families.
Our leadership series will also be a beneficial time to network with many of Indiana's and the Midwest's political and business leaders. There will be opportunities for interns to introduce the speakers as well as ask them important questions.
Also, interns will be encouraged to participate in social activities on the weekends as well as their days off.
Making a Difference
Most importantly you will actually be making a difference.
First, you will be making a difference in your own personal life. You will be challenged to become skilled in the knowledge, disciplines and hard work ethics necessary for successful Conservative Leadership.
Second, you will be making a difference in the lives of all the voters you meet during the campaign. You will be sharing with them the winning values and solutions that will positively affect their lives. You will be able to inspire, encourage, and challenge the voters you meet to join you in our noble cause to restore freedom and individual liberty in America.
Third, you will be making a difference for future generations. Your efforts will not only create positive change in the political realm but will ensure that our nation gives future generations the opportunity to achieve the American Dream.
Leadership is about serving. Leadership is about changing hearts and minds leading to changed lives. Servant leadership is what you will learn and what you will provide.
One day in the field talking face to face with voters in the Heartland will teach you more about advancing our conservative values and do more to strengthen the conservative movement than any experience in Washington.
General Information
Applications and admission are done on a rolling basis. Applicants who apply before January 15th will be considered first for participation in the program.
Due to the competitiveness of our Program and our commitment to provide the best professional experience for our participants, we are only able to accept a select number of interns per session. Therefore we urge you to apply as soon as possible.
There are two eight week sessions during the summer.
Session 1 starts May 11th and ends July 3rd
Session 2 starts July 6th and ends August 28th
We prefer, encourage and highly consider applicants who are able to participate the entire summer.
We are also flexible with interns who want to participate but are unable to fit into the two session structure. If you are only able to participate for a few weeks during the summer or would like to participate longer than eight weeks then we encourage you to apply and if you are accepted, we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
What we're looking for: Applicants must believe in Ronald Reagan Conservatism and have a strong desire to start the rebirth of the Republican Party through Reagan Conservatism. Applicants must have a belief that bad government ruins lives, while freedom leads to a virtuous society. We strongly desire team players who have a high level of maturity, a good attitude, an enthusiasm for learning, who are able to work with little oversight and a readiness for any task. No experience necessary.

This program will maintain a Christian value environment.
Location: Columbus, Indiana. Located in the heart of the Hoosier State, Columbus is the architectural capital of the world. Boasting of grand buildings, amazing public parks and welcoming people, Columbus is an All-American city. Columbus is the second largest city in the 9th Congressional District. It is large enough to have all the luxuries of a big town, including one of the Midwest's largest Outlet Malls, yet it is small enough to maintain our family friendly image.
Southern Indiana includes some of the most beautiful land in all of America. Brown County State Park, Hoosier National Forest, Historic Madison, Falls of the Ohio State Park, Corydon (Indiana's first state capital), Marengo Caves, Holiday World, Legendary Indiana University (Go Hoosiers!) and Abraham Lincoln's boyhood home are all within the District.
Columbus also offers easy and quick access to leisure in large cities nearby including:
Indianapolis - Home of the Pacers, Colts, Indians, IMAX Theatre, Children's Museum, Indianapolis Zoo
Louisville - Home of the Louisville Slugger (Museum), Riverbats, Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, Louisville Zoo
Cincinnati - Home of the Reds, Bengals, Paramount's Kings Island, Surf in' Safari, The Beach, Newport Aquarium, Cincinnati Zoo
